Seasonal
Tours
July 1st through end of October:
Guided tours, run by our trained volunteers, are available to walk-ins on the hour and half hour starting July 1st through the end of October. The legislature is not in session during these months, making most of our beautiful, restored State House accessible.
All group tours must be scheduled in advance by calling (802) 828-2228, the Sergeant-at-Arms office.
If a group would like to eat lunch in the State House cafeteria during their visit, arrangements should be made in advance.
Tour Hours: Monday-Friday, 10:00-3:30; Saturday, 11:00-2:30
November 1st through end of June:
Starting in November through June, all tours must be scheduled in advance by contacting the School Tours coordinator (802)828-1411 or schooltours@leg.state.vt.us. Please note that school tours have specific requirements. If you would like to book a field trip to Montpelier or get more information about the programs offered to students, please click here.
Any time during the year:
At any time during the year, an informative map/brochure of the Capitol building or our ‘magic wand’ Audio Tour is available for self-guided tours. This type of tour allows the visitor to move at their own pace and offers both a general and more detailed narrative of the building. Pick up audio wands at the Sgt at Arms office. There is no charge for use. Please note that most of the public rooms are open, but a few can be viewed only through the open door unless a guide is present
Building Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30-4:15, all year; Saturday, 11:00-3:00, July-Oct only
