The Friends of the Vermont State House is a private non-profit organization that has worked in close partnership with the Vermont legislature to restore our State Capitol and educate the public about its history and functions. The result is a remarkable achievement of public/private teamwork.

Beginning in the early 1980's, the Friends commissioned a master plan for the authentic restoration of the State House, based on study of historical records. The all-volunteer Friends have raised and spent over a million dollars to help accomplish the restoration. We also publish educational materials, sponsor events, and we train and maintain a corps of dedicated volunteers. The positions of Curator and winter Guide Coordinator were originally funded and developed by the Friends before being recognized as necessary government positions.

We are supported by our donors, by donations to special projects, and by our Under-the-Dome Gift Shop.

We invite you to consider becoming a Donor or active Volunteer.
